5 Nov 2013 → 24 Sep 2014: India’s first interplanetary mission reaches Mars. The Mars Orbiter Mission launched from Sriharikota on 5 November 2013 and entered Martian orbit on 24 September 2014. 11 Apr 2016: UPI begins as an interoperable payments pilot. The National Payments Corporation of India launched the Unified Payments Interface pilot on 11 April 2016 with 21 member banks.
