The Right to Education Act comes into force
Enacted on 26 August 2009 and in force from 1 April 2010, the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act created a statutory right to free and compulsory elementary education for children aged six to fourteen.
Enactment and commencement are kept distinct. The law defines the right and institutional duties; the varied outcomes of implementation require separate evidence.
