Haldighati is a battle, not the end of Mewar resistance
Mughal forces under Man Singh fought Maharana Pratap’s army at Haldighati, forcing a retreat without capturing the ruler. Mewar resistance continued, and Pratap later recovered much of his kingdom outside the major fortified cities.
Popular retellings often turn Haldighati into a simple civilisational contest or declare an unambiguous victor. The campaign is better understood within Mughal-Rajput politics, where alliance and resistance both crossed religious lines.

Akbar’s court makes translation a political practice
Teams of scholars translated Sanskrit works, including the Mahabharata, into Persian for an imperial readership. Court debate and translation did not erase hierarchy, but they broadened the intellectual languages through which empire imagined India.
Akbar’s religious experiments are often compressed into the label Din-i Ilahi. The court’s larger project included debates, patronage, legal adjustment and the careful management of many elite communities.
